PC-BASED CONTROL SYSTEMS
Description
Some applications are based entirelly on PC's. These systems offer I/O hardware flexibility, enhanced diagnostics, top to bottom code structure, TOP and BOTTOM Network integration and last and most important, HMI integration in the same PC.
Learning Outcomes
Provide controls and maintenance staff with a good hands-on introduction to PC-Based System components, programming and debug. This is a hands-on class, you will install, develop and debug logic application programs using Open Control to solve problems traditionally solved with PLC's.
Outline
- Control systems evolution, traditional control system components, technical considerations, economic considerations, and human resource considerations
- Overview of PC-Based control system
- Control components (Hardware), control components (Software), system architecture, connectivity to other devices, networking & network device selection and why PC-Based control systems are used
- Hardware logic solver Vs software logic solver
- Traditional hardware logic solver, software logic solver speed of execution, logic solver protection under HyperKernel environment, Windows NT
- Overview of flowchart programming
- What is a flowchart, what is flowchart programming, OpenControl flowcharts
- Exercise, installation of OpenControl software
- Developing flowchart logic
- Mnemonics & IEC1131, inputs, outputs/pulse outputs, flags, timers/counters, registers, ASCII, control blocks, move, wait, decision/comparison, arithmetic, RF tag/bar code reader blocks, motion blocks
- Exercise, develop own functional flowchart
- Developing logic with OpenControl
- Open Control Visual Flow Editor, the resource window, the construction window, the system window, function icons, development steps, project compile, project debug
- Exercise, simple logic
- Debug & simulation
- Open Control Monitor, monitor components, viewing & working with real-time flowcharts,
- Troubleshooting with monitor
